3/18/2007 We've Got Puppies! These three cute little things were born at SOAR three weeks ago. They're growing and are just as fat and as healthy as they can be. Their mother, Sparki, pictured below, is a wonderful mom and let's the volunteers hold and pet her puppies. As you can see she is taking great care of them.

3/16/2008 Current Pic of Captain Jack This pic was taken yesterday at Aunt Kerry's. He's happier without his eyes; they were painful and very troublesome to him. He's doing better now. He is wearing the collar to keep him from scratching his eyes. The collar will be removed and the stitches will come out this coming Friday.

3/14/2008 Our Beloved Ingrid Died Last Week Ingrid came to us as a puppy almost 15 years ago and she never left us. Jeannine loved her from day one and kept her at SOAR. Everyone that has come to SOAR as a volunteer or as a prospective adoptive parent has seen Ingrid. She was ever present. Here's a short little story about Ingrid that begins to capture the effect she had on people. A couple of years ago the phone at SOAR rang and the manager answered. The caller said she had been a SOAR volunteer about ten years ago and fondly remembered a dog named Ingrid. She asked if the manager knew whatever happened to Ingrid. The manager answered 'Ingrid is snoozing on the floor right beside me'. To the former volunteer, and to all of us at SOAR, we'll always remember and love Ingrid. Here is what our current manager had to say about Ingrid. ...she was a SOAR mascot of sorts as she watched over all the new animals arriving at SOAR weekly Below is a very recent photo of Ingrid with Jay McDade holding and steadying her. You can see the sadness in Jay's eyes; he knows Ingrid is nearing the end.

1/3/2008 Great News; Roxie Accepted for Service Dog Training Today was a red letter day for SOAR and Roxie. Rick Hairston of Carolina We love Roxie as she has one of the best dispostions we have ever seen in a dog. We have great confidence in her and wish her the best in her new life. Good luck Roxie! The picture was taken today (1/3/2008) when Rick picked up Roxie to take to begin her training. |

Pixie is doing wonderfully. She really is a hound dog! Her health has blossomed and she is at about 40 pounds right now. Her coat is shiny and she is very energetic. We have put in an in-ground electric fence around our yard and she has done fantastically with that so that she has free reign over her domain! We also put in 10x10x10 dog pen with a dog house that we leave her in during the day when we have to be gone for several hours. She loves her dog house and pen. Otherwise, she is in the house with us and an integral part of our family.
